Here I can give you ideas of where my paintings started, what inspires me, and how I use colours I love.

I call this Sunlit Walk. This was inspired by a walk with a friend on a beautiful sunny day along some dusty tracks with old and crumbling fences and gates. It’s early spring, fresh grasses just bursting through.

It all begins with an idea.

The paintings on these pages were mainly done through lockdown, when I, for one, could sit down and set my mind to creating new paintings. I wanted to make art that reflected the moods and images I see on my daily walks and journeys into the hills where I love to hike. I live in an idyllic place where the views out of my windows are always changing inspire me every day.

I have always enjoyed using bright colours and now, in this series of new paintings, I feel courageous enough to use colours simply because I like them. I like to see how one colour looks against another. I have my favourite colour schemes, which are obvious in the paintings!
