I have painted for as long as I can remember, always using the rural life around me as my primary subject matter. After graduating in Fine Art I worked as a commercial artist, then moving on to writing and illustrating children’s books and designing complex pop-up books.

Inspired by my life in North Yorkshire, I created a series of cartoons called ‘Country Comicals’ - whimsical and humorous depictions of everyday rural life.

The ‘Dream Landscape’ paintings in these pages recent works, mostly created during lockdown. They express my love of colour, my fascination with my local landscapes and love of walking along remote footpaths. The dream-like colours and slight other-worldliness of the paintings reflect the deep history of the landscape.

My interests have developed into abstract fluid art, or pouring paintings as they are also known. The free technique and organic style of these paintings suggest elemental forces, the sea, the wind and the stars.
